Hi developers ๐, the end of 2023 is about to come and this year is very vague and problematic for most of the developers. Some lost their jobs, some couldn't even join their job and some got jobs that don't justify their skills๐ฅฒ. As a web developer myself, it was tough to achieve a job as well as get freelancing opportunities as the market for freelancers is going a bit down nowadays.
The rapid pace of innovation in web development means developers must constantly be learning new skills and frameworks to stay relevant. As we are going to enter 2024, I think a few key development stacks stand out as being worth learning to boost career prospects as a developer๐๐.
The stacks you can learn ๐ฅ
MERN Stack
MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js) Stack is one of the famous stacks in the market whose demand is not going to end soon. React is a popular JavaScript library for building user interfaces and is a must-know for front-end developers. Key features like the virtual DOM and reusable components make React a highly efficient way to create complex web and mobile applications.
Many developers, may replace MongoDB with MySQL or any Relational Database which is fine according to the requirements of the application.
MEAN Stack
MEAN (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular, Node.js) Stack is an enterprise-level stack and most companies prefer this over the MERN Stack if they are thinking of making an enterprise, scalable, reliable and maintainable software application. Angular has lots of UI libraries customized and designed for it and along with its first hand support to TypeScript, it gives the developers a type security.
Ruby on Rails Stack
Ruby on Rails (Ruby on Rails, Ruby, MySQL/PostgreSQL/SQLite) Stack is a robust and elegant combination of technologies designed to create powerful web applications efficiently. At its core lies the Ruby programming language, renowned for its simplicity and readability, serving as the foundation for building dynamic web experiences.
Ruby on Rails Stack leverages the MVC architecture which is a structured approach that enhances code organization, scalability, and maintainability, making it a favorite among developers for rapid application development.
Django Stack
Django Stack (Django, Python, MySQL/PostgreSQL/SQLite) encompasses a potent assembly of technologies tailored for streamlined web development. Django, a high-level Python framework, serves as its cornerstone, epitomizing efficiency and scalability. Leveraging the Model-View-Template (MVT) architecture.
Python's versatility powers the framework, while Django's bundled features, like robust security modules and an ORM, expedite development. Compatible with multiple databases, including SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, Django offers a flexible yet structured ecosystem
Laravel Stack
Laravel Stack (Laravel, Composer, MySQL/PostgreSQL/SQLite) is a stack that is widely used in the corporate. Laravel is a framework written in PHP and leverages the MVC architecture. Although Laravel does not Support Single Page Applications (SPA), it can easily combine with any SPA libraries and frameworks to achieve that functionality.
The composer is one of the key components of Laravel as it acts as a dependency manager and a server manager. It manages the dependencies on a per-project basis.
LAMP Stack
LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) Stack is one of the famous open-source stacks on which software like WordPress is built. You can replace Linux with Windows (WAMP) or MacOS (MAMP) but the most optimized of all is Linux.
The Apache web server sends the request to the PHP files and then it handles the request and performs the operations that are written in it. LAMP has a classic layered architecture, with Linux at the lowest level. The next layer is Apache and MySQL, followed by PHP. The advantage of LAMP is its secure architecture and well-established encryption practices that have been proven in the enterprise.
Conclusion
In the end, I want to say it's up to you to decide which stack you have to choose based on the demand, job opportunities and available jobs in a market. My personal opinion is that go with anything that is related to JavaScript/TypeScript as the requirement and demand of this programming language is not going to end.
